Le temp passe
These images are an exploration of the mystery and beauty found in aging and decay. The project began in a late winter garden where I found beds of roses, not yet pruned for new spring growth, seemingly frozen in various stages of decay. I was entranced by their unusual beauty: faded color, odd but interesting blemishes, and weirdly curled petals. I spent several afternoons capturing the enormous variety.
As the project developed, I incorporated complementary images of sky and clouds, reflections, and single images of the flowers. All of which evoked for me the poignancy of passing time, the shortness of life, and the invisibility that comes with old age.
